A pride of lions feeding on a kudo in Ngala. This is my first experience shooting with red floodlight, which is is used in some parks at night so the animals eyes stay dilated and it does not have to adjust to the dark once the light changes.

I wanted to shoot them very tight to try to re-create some of the powerful experience of seeing and hearing this spectacle in nature. There is nothing more visceral than closing your eyes and hearing a lion crack through a kudo’s femur in the quiet of a black night.

I would love to know if I succeeded a little in bringing you in?
